While you’re in the process of losing weight, it’s important to set a goal weight for your “end” result. Of course this goal may change, but once you reach a weight that you truly feel comfortable and happy at… it’s time for the next step.

Step 2: Remain At A Stable Weight For 6 Months

Now that you’re at a comfortable weight, it’s important to remain at this stable weight for roughly 6 months before undergoing a tummy tuck. Once you’ve remained at this new plateau, your plastic surgeon will be able to accurately assess you and determine a surgical plan that is tailored to your body and your goals.

Why Do I Need To Wait For A Tummy Tuck After Weight Loss?

We highly recommend that patients lose the majority of their weight before undergoing any plastic surgery. If you undergo a tummy tuck now, but continue losing weight after your procedure, you risk compromising your tummy tuck results which would put you back to square one (wanting a tummy tuck).
